Based on the final film in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Return of the King Activity Studio is thorough in its content. It's a good buy for anyone who is a fan of the treasured Tolkien tales and the films.

We were very impressed by the quality of this program. It is easy to use, very well presented and packed with information, activities and things to make. Whenever you're using the software, you'll be treated to the film's soundtrack in the background, along with colourful shots and clips from the film.

In the print studio, you can choose from a range of different designs for anything from calendars, bookmarks and posters, to writing paper, CD covers and screen savers. You simply print off what you like. However, be prepared to drain the ink from your printer cartridges.

AdvertisementIf you're a true film buff, you can play games and test your knowledge of the film with an interactive quiz. The games are suitable for all ages and have several levels of difficulty.

The first is a memory game, the second is a puzzle where you slide squares around to build up a picture. These are fun but fairly basic. You can also draw your own pictures, colour in pre-drawn templates using simple design tools and create your own scenes by drawing in a series of boxes.

Another major part of the software is dedicated to information on the film. This includes basic details and photos of each of the main characters and places involved in the film. This is really for those who are interested in the story, though, and not so much in the way the film was made or in the people who acted in it. One for the serious fan.
